Rail Trail day 1 Clyde to Omakau

After a comfortable night spent in Oliver's Clyde we set off on our bikes just before 10am. The weather was dull and overcast but dry, perfect for cycling. The first section takes us from Clyde to Alexandra along a fairly easy flat section. After Alexandra there was a very gentle climb up to Chatto Creek through farmland mostly used for sheep, where we stopped for lunch just after midday. After lunch was the steepest part of the rail Trail about 10Km up a steady incline to Tiger Hill, after which it was downhill all the way to Omakau and the Ophia where we are staying tonight in  Pitches Store; a total of about 39Km on the first day.
Feeling quite tired and achy we have just been able to relax in a hot tub to soothe our sore knees.
Lindsay leaving our luxury accomodation?!!
