We left a very wet but hot and muggy Taranaki and drove along the forgotten world highway, through a dense forest of trees and frens. It was a partly un made road with the rain lashing down at times; so testing conditions for our new 4WD vehicle!
We stopped for lunch in a small township called Taumarununi and found a small cafe which turned out to also serve Thai food. So we had 2 plates of wonderful Thai chicken curries for NZ$20.
We have now arrived in Turangi on the southern shore of lake Taupo.
Lindsay is going to investigate fishing lessions and I'm going to try to buy some second hand bikes.
